Malibu seems like the last place one would find an awesome burrito, especially in a gentrified strip mall a few miles from Cher's house. But once you notice the view, the sand sticking to your feet, and the long wet hair of surfers flicking to and fro out of their eyes, it begins to make sense. Surfers love burritos. Surfers love Point Dume. Lily's Cafe is located behind Pointe Dume. But of course....
I have never surfed, and I exclusively admire the ocean from behind a book in the sand, but I could imagine that after slipping on a wet suit and getting beaten around in 45 F waves at sunrise would put anyone into a hungry kind of mood. A hunger only a warm, gooey, spicy burrito could fulfill.
Lily's Breakfast Burrito is perfect for me. Every component is balanced and that Diablo sauce is as mysterious as it is delicious. Why is it that color? Why is it opaque? I have no idea, but I love it, so shut up brain! Plus you can't beat that view. Enjoy!
