"Join me and together we will rule the galaxy as father and son!"
Ingredients:
tube of crescent rolls*
4 hot dogs
cheese slices, optional
1 egg, beaten
black, red, and blue food coloring
*each tube will make 4 hot dogs, so multiply this as needed. For every tube you use, beat another egg so you have enough egg wash
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
Unroll the crescent rolls into 4 rectangles. You will need to pinch together the perforations.
Place cheese slices, if desired in the middle, and then place a whole hot dog in the middle.
Roll up the ends over the ends of the hot dog, and then roll it lengthwise to entirely cover the hot dog. gently squeeze one top to look more pointy to be the tip of your lightsaber.
Place hot dogs on a parchment lined baking pan. Make sure everything is pinched together tightly or else cheese will ooze out of your lightsabers. (or solve that problem by not using cheese!)
Beat your egg into a bowl and add 1 tsp of water to it. Divide into 2 bowls (3 if you're doing 3 colors and you may need another egg). Add your food coloring to the egg wash and beat it so that there is no yellow remaining. I did black for the lightsaber handle and red for the lightsaber. But it would be easy to add a little blue to make a green lightsaber (you know, yellow + blue= green)
With a clean pastry brush or even a clean paint brush (used only for kitchen purposes), paint your lightsabers. I would suggest also painting them again half way through cooking just so that the color is covering all of the dough.
Bake for 20 minutes or until the crust is all the way cooked through. (it is kind of hard to tell because you won't see the golden brown)
