What the heck are 'Frickles' you ask? That's exactly what I thought when I saw the title of this recipe!
Well, it's a won-ton wrapper stuffed with ham, cheese and a pickle spear. It's then pan fried until golden brown. Then it gets gobbled up real quick because it's that good!
It also reheats nicely in the microwave! I found the recipe **here** I used provolone cheese and served the Frickles with a sauce made of mayo, ketchup and mustard...similar to Burger King's 'special sauce' for their burgers.
Here is the link to a very helpful **Video** that shows how easy it is to roll won-ton wrappers into egg rolls. I use water instead of egg to seal the egg rolls.
This would make a great quick snack for game day or after school.
INGREDIENTS:
wonton wrappers
sliced provolone or swiss cheese
sliced deli cooked ham
pickle spears
corn oil to pan fry the frickles
DIRECTIONS:
Lay out a wonton wrapper on a plate.
Place a piece of ham and cheese on the wrapper.
Then place a pickle spear ontop of the ham and cheese.
Roll the wonton wrapper up egg roll style *see video above*
Repeat with all the wonton wrappers.
In a shallow frying pan heat about 1/4 " of corn oil on medium heat.
When oil is hot place a wrapped wonton in the pan, seam side down and let it brown.
This will brown extremely fast, so keep an eye on it! Turn and brown the other side.
Remove from pan onto a paper towel lined plate to blot.
Serve warm with a dip if you like!
I served the Frickles with a dipping sauce made from
equal parts of mayo, ketchup and mustard!
