Shunti(Ginger) Tambli/Shunti Tambuli Recipe

            One of the easiest rice accompaniment that can be prepared in jiffy is tambli. I have already posted ash gourd bondu tambli. Today let me post Ginger tambli, a very good curry for improving digestion.

  • Ginger- 2"  piece
  • Grated coconut- 4 to 5 tbsp
  • Red chilly(Byadagi)- 1
  • Cumin seeds- 1/2 tbsp
  • Whisked curds/Butter milk- 1 bowl
  • Salt to taste 
For Seasoning
  • Mustard seeds-1/2 tbsp
  • Urad dal-1/2 tbsp
  • Red chilly-1
  • Curry leaves-1 strand
  • Coconut Oil- 1 tbsp
Serves- 3 to 4   
Preparation
Wash and peel the ginger piece.
 Method
  • In a frying pan add 1/2 tea spoon of oil, ginger, cumin seeds, red chilly and fry them all till the cumin seeds change in color.

  • Add fried items from step 1, grated coconut  and salt in to a blender and grind it to fine paste adding minimum water.

  • Now put this in a bowl, add whisked curds/butter milk and mix it well. The consistency of tambuli should be thinner than chutney. So adjust the consistency by adding water.
  • Now in a small pan heat oil, add mustard seeds, urad dal, red chilly and curry leaves. When mustard seeds splutter add it to tambuli.

  • Shunti(ginger) tambli is ready to be served with hot rice.
    Note
  • Red chilly can be replaced by green chilly or few pepper seeds. It tastes equally good.
