Last week Katie won my summer gift basket with her fabulous comments about the dolly cakes on Refinery 29. I sent her some of my favorite summer treats and preserves, and I just heard from her today that everything arrived safe and sound. Considering how much bubble wrap I used, I should hope so! I'm kind of obsessed with pickling this summer, as it's the easiest thing ever and avoids the laborious/time consuming category that jamming can sometimes fall into. Here's what I sent her, and expect the recipes of my newest preserves tomorrow:
- Bruery Trade Winds Tripel, one of my favorite summer beers, it's fermented with rice and Thai basil giving it a peppery brightness that blends perfectly with the citrusy hops.
- Fresh Lavender, just because.
- Salsa Verde
- Chipotle Salsa
- Pickled Nectarines, on top of ice cream or even on a pork belly sandwich, these are so addicting.
- Pickled Fennel, perfect for an antipasto platter.
- Roasted Garlic spread, an easy way to beef up any sauce or make a quick garlic bread.
- Apricot, Plum and Rosemary Jam
